The device can take you from point to point along a tour route with the /2 go command.
If someone has made a preset tour in the area where you are, typing /2 go will take you from one preset point to the next.
The tour can also be preset to read a wav file aloud at a given point.
Hearing wav files provides an alternate method of accessing text. However, this method does require that someone records the wav files and inserts them in the device or in an object. So this method is an option for those people who want to have an exact voice read their tour.
On preset tours, the text can also be "sent" into the chat window to be voiced by EVA or Max Voice.
NOTE: To demonstrate this method of using wav files to read signs, Virtual Ability New Resident Orientation Trail has two of the signs marked as "go" points. You can practice using /2 go to move from the first point to the second and back again. Each time, you will trigger the point's wav files to be read aloud.
1. The first "go point" is the "Welcome" sign to the left of the Keyboard Arrow Landing Pad. 2. The second "go point" is the seventh sign along the trail: the "Visit Resna" sign.
To hear this demo, stand at the beginning of the trail where the "Keyboard Arrows" are a "landing pad." Type in /2 go. You will move beside the first sign and trigger a wav file that reads the following text aloud.
If you have your sound turned on, you should hear the following text:
"(Device moving you to: <170, 97, 22>) Welcome to Second Life We are glad you are here!
Here you will learn the basics of:
You will need around one hour to complete this first orientation course."
